Professional Relations Office
Professional Relations Office
The Professional Relations Office (PRO) serves as the link between BDA, SSA and the medical community. The office works to foster relationships with medical entities and maintains oversight of their activities, ensuring SSA and the BDA staff have the resources available to adjudicate disability claims for the Social Security program.
Submitting Records Electronically
Electronic Records Express (ERE) is an initiative by Social Security and NV Bureau of Disability Adjudication (BDA) to offer electronic options for submitting records related to disability claims. If you have received a request for records about a disability claim, you can choose the method of sending the information that works best for you – online to Social Security’s secure website or by fax to your state DDS or to Social Security. Please visit the following link for more details: Electronic Records Express | SSA
Consultative Exam (CE) Providers
When the BDA does not have sufficient medical evidence to process a claim, we arrange and pay for an independent consultative examination. The medical professionals who perform these examinations are community providers, like you, located throughout Nevada. Providers choose when and how many of these examinations they perform. These examinations provide a great benefit to the community and serve as a diversified revenue source for providers. Providers are not responsible for making the decision as to whether an individual is disabled but are needed to provide objective findings that will assist the BDA in making that medical determination.
Some additional benefits to performing these examinations include:
- One-time examinations. There is no requirement to establish any treatment plans or ongoing doctor-patient relationships.
- Prompt and efficient payment process.
- The BDA is the custodian of records for these examinations; there is no need for the provider to maintain records.
- Free continuing education credits (CME) (Consultant CME Flyer).
All CE providers must be currently licensed in the state of Nevada and have the training and experience to perform the type of examination or test SSA requires. CE providers must not be barred from participating in any federally funded program.
If you have any questions or interest in joining our Consultative Examination panel, please feel free to contact us at: NV.DDS.MPRO@ssa.gov.
